klwilliamsI did something tonight I never would have expected I would do -- I went to see part of a professional tennis tournament. My mother is a big fan of professional tennis, and a year or so ago when I was out visiting her I watched the U.S. Open with her on TV, and she explained the game and who everyone was. One of the players, who had come back from injury and lots of other awful stuff, was James Blake, who ended up beating the number two ranked player in the world. I've been a big fan of his ever since, and it turned out that he was one of the players in a tournament in San Jose this week.
I had great seats, and James Blake played a fun game. The game right before his was Andy Roddick, who has a great serve, but that's pretty much his game. Blake uses the whole court, and is very fast, so he makes a lot of incredible, last-second shots. I had a wonderful time, and my mother is seething with jealousy, since I didn't find out in time about the tournament for her to come out and see it with me.
