that I like Death the best of the Terry Pratchett subseries? Second is the Night Watch (or Guard?), third is the Witches, and last is the Magicians (or whatever it is, since I just read the first of them). (It's not that I like the idea of death, it's that I have a crush on Death.)

I don't think I've read that one. I guess I'll put it on my must-read list.

That's Wizards, ma'm.

Are you saying that there are new Terry Pratchett books, or are you just now discovering them? They are such fun to read.

Death *is* the best character, no question about it.

Mort is probably my favorite Pratchett book overall. Wish I could've seen the BBC adaption of Hogfather this X-Mas - even beat out the Dr Who XMas special. I've been trying to get my hands on some of the old PC graphic adventure games (Monkey Island/King's Quest-ish). I think they were only released in the UK. The later ones had quite a great voice cast: Eric Idle (as Rincewind, I think), Tony "Baldrick" Robinson, and I think John Pertwee did the voice of Death.

Got introduced to Discworld by a friend in college who was a library science major. When I saw Pratchett in person at Border's several years ago (only 15 people were there...criminal! OTOH, plenty of time to talk to everyone personally :) ), I had him sign a copy of Feet of Clay (the most recent book at the time) for her birthday...I realized later on that I should've asked him to sign it "Oook!" For my book, he wrote "Don't fear the reaper" in Latin ;)

I wish he and Douglas Adams could've collaborated. Besides the obvious humor, they had several other things in common, from general philosophy to their interest in wildlife.

Having just read Soul Music, I almost agree with you. But it's Granny Weatherwax I adore. Especially the Tiffany Aching series.

Death is very cool.

I don't see anything funny about it. Death is a very cool character. I also think he's super neato.
