Life with friends

This weekend was taken up with fun times with friends. On Saturday afternoon, I took my seven-year-old goddaughter to see The Young Black Stallion at the local IMAX theater. She'd seen it before and loved it, since it involved horses and a girl who saves the day, and was desperate to see it again. It was pretty good, with beautiful scenery and a decent story, and it reminded me of the somewhat cheesy movies shown on Sunday nights in the sixties on the Walt Disney Show or on Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.

When I took her home, my four-year-old godson had been waiting patiently for me to arrive so he could show me every step of his Veggie Tales computer game (he'd found all seven pieces of the treasure map). It was fun to spend time with him, and he's looking forward to turning five so he can join the Cub Sprouts (which is what Veggie Tales calls them).

Sunday was church, a nap, and an invigorating phone call with kathlaw, who taught me many things about scripts and gave me many good ideas. Then I went to a dinner party that learnteach threw for me to celebrate me getting my black belt, and got to spend a fun evening catching up with folks I hadn't seen in a long time. What a fun, but exhausting, weekend.
