My friend is out of the hospital (yay!), my mother's bronchial infection is much better (yay!) so she'll be driving on to my brother's house today or tomorrow, and I had a great time in L.A. (yay!). I plan to move to L.A. by next spring, but first I need a job, so anyone who knows of any jobs for software engineers who program databases, or software field engineers, or software/technical project managers in the L.A. area, please let me know.

I went down this last weekend to the Great Western War, in order to hang out with some really cool people and to start job networking. These people made an amazingly authentic fourteenth century English camp in the middle of an SCA war -- quite an accomplishment. I'm inspired. I need new clothes. And there was a really cool guy there, too.

I had another pleasant surprise this week. Last March, my father, for the first time, forgot my birthday. When I went out to his house in April to help with my baby brother, he asked me what I wanted for my birthday, and I told him I wanted a waffle iron. He gave me money instead. He usually does. Well, Monday afternoon I got a package from my Dad, and in it was a brand new, rather fancy, waffle iron. I'm very touched. He remembered.
