Waffling around
Oct. 20th, 2003 09:12 pmI bought some waffle mix, and made up some batter. The instructions on the waffle mix said to put vegetable oil on the waffle iron before pouring the batter. I checked the instruction booklet, which went on at length about the stick-free waffle iron surface, but said nothing about vegetable oil. I poured the batter on the hot iron, waited a couple of minutes, and had a perfectly cooked waffle -- that stuck to the bottom of the iron. I checked the instruction booklet again, and after the section on Getting Started With Your New Waffle Iron, and after the section on Using Your New Waffle Iron, was a short blurb that said that you might want to possibly add a splash of vegetable oil the first time you used it for seasoning purposes. Half an hour, and much digging of cooked batter, later, I once again had perfectly cooked waffles, sans sticking. They were yummy.
