A Saturday
Nov. 13th, 2004 04:28 pmMy best friend from high school called me up last night to cancel. She sounded terrible, and had just come from Urgent Care where they had given her antibiotics. It sucks being sick away from home. We're going to catch up by phone in a week or so.
Today I went shopping, in an ongoing attempt to buy more grownup clothes. I've been teasing my boss that he dresses too well to have any credibility as an engineer, and he's been maintaining that's not true, but last Sunday's Dilbert proved my point. However, I would like to dress more like a manager than an engineer, now that I am one, so I have been trying to find professional clothes that I like, aren't dry clean only, that fit, and that don't make me look like a grandmother. Thank goodness for Land's End's custom pants. I now own slacks that fit me, and have ordered some more in different colors. I found a fake twin set at Penney's today that looks very nice (dark red with black and gold highlights), and a purple blouse from Coldwater Creek arrived in the mail today.
I also bought birthday presents for my godsons, who turned five and seventeen this month. The five-year-old is getting a Batman shirt/pants/vest outfit that's primarily "lello" (his favorite color), and I won't say what the seventeen-year-old is getting lest he read it and have the surprise spoiled. (It's not a Batman outfit, though.)
