A marzipan weekend
Jan. 16th, 2005 12:17 amMy mother went home on Thursday, after visiting for a couple of weeks. It's been cold and rainy here, so we didn't go out much. Mom really likes to play Scrabble, so we did a lot of that. It was a nice visit. I haven't had a chance to see her for a long time, particularly since she spent four months in Africa this summer.
Last night I went to aikido for the first time since around Thanksgiving. My back is much better, fortunately. I'm always afraid that when I miss aikido that I'll forget everything, but I didn't (at least not last night). It was nice to be there and to feel the energy flowing through me. I wasn't even that sore this morning.
Today was also chilly, so I spent most of it at home in front of a nice warm fire in my fireplace, eating the occasional marzipan fruit and working on my review for work. Actually, I did my "managing upward" review of my boss, and will do my own review (which he will then add to and have the final say on) tomorrow. I realize that working on the weekend isn't a great idea, but I'm stressing about this, since it will be my first official review in my new job, and by it's nature I get interrupted by my job, so doing this at work makes it even more stressful.
I plan to sleep late tomorrow. No one call until noon, OK?
