As of Thursday, I've lost ten percent of my original body weight! Hooray! Only another thirty percent or so to go. :-)

And, in other good news, I bought my own set of golf clubs. I went to the local pro shop to get fitted, and the first swing I made with the brand they recommended was so perfect, I was sold on the spot. They've ordered my new set (customized for me), and it will be in by next weekend if I'm lucky. Hooray!

I've had lots of other good and/or interesting things happen lately, but just haven't had time to write about them. If you want to know more about any of these, just ask, but a quick summary includes:

1. I went to see "The Lion King" touring musical, and it was wonderful.
2. I played golf with my team at work, then went out and got drunk for the first time in my life.
3. [livejournal.com profile] annmprice came to visit, and we went to WonderCon (a local comic book convention).
4. I've been going to Boggle and Scrabble Night regularly at a friend's house, and got "castanet" in Boggle.

Also, my training for the Overnight walk is going well, and if I don't walk or get some exercise each day, my body misses it.

This week, Cirque du Soleil!

Here is my entry for "National Embarrass Yourself as an Artist" day:

1. One of the first two poems I ever wrote, when I was 7, and first discovering poetry:

Come and see me,
Come and see me,
Oh, please will you, Daddy?

I knew at the time, on a deep level that I couldn't quite touch, that my poetry wasn't like good poetry, and that I would never be anything but mediocre in the form. About five years later I sold a poem, for the quite good sum of $2.00, yet still felt I was at best mediocre.

2. The opening of my first novel, when I was in the fourth grade:

Chapter 1.

Two boys played happily in a village. It was an out-of-the-way village.

Chapter 2.

[There was a line or two in this chapter, too, but then it fizzled out.]

I was trying to write up a game I had just played with my Raggedy Andys, George and, well, Andy. I decided that writing a novel was just too complex for me right then.
