A nice weekend
Apr. 1st, 2007 06:24 pmI spent the weekend (somewhat interrupted) at Coronet, which was held in a county park near my house. The grass and hills were green, the trees were green, the weather was warm, the company was intelligent and fun -- a great event.
This is one of the events where I do at least one official presentation as Bard of the Mists. I had written a fun poem about the Princess that I had wanted to do at evening court, but decided instead to write a victory poem for the tourney winners and present that. Ironically, the last time I was Bard I had written three matched pieces for the man who won the lists this weekend, though I had never served as his Bard officially, but I decided (after consultation) that it would be tacky to just redo one of those pieces and change the name of the lady he fought for. :-) His new lady is his wife. She is very nice and I like her a lot, so I look forward to serving the two of them as Bard.
I did read the piece for the Princess after the royal feast last night, and she seemed pleased with it (and asked me to read it again for some friends at a gathering on the list field later), so that was nice. She's such a fun, dynamic person I hope I captured some of that. I also had a chance to read my award letter of recommendation sonnet when
g0atface got her Corolla. That was fun.
Today I went to Palm Sunday services, which includes processing into the sanctuary carrying palm fronds, and a reading of the Passion, which is grim. Then I came home and took a nap all afternoon, followed by dinner with
maestrateresa. Now I need to do some real work. :-)
