Happy Crying

I watched my TiVo'd Oprah episode just now, because Anatalie, one of my mother's closest friends, was on the show. Anatalie and her husband, Pierre Damien, are from Rwanda, and were in the U.S. when the genocide occurred. (Through a stroke of luck that didn't seem lucky at the time their return was delayed.) They sought asylum here, and just last year Anatalie became a U.S. citizen. Today she voted for the first time. Ever.
