Homesteading
Oct. 31st, 2010 04:13 pmMy mother was out visiting this week, and while I was at work, she and
learnteach finished removing the remaining tomato plants (which the turtles never even nibbled at, in the way of pets and small children), and in their place bought some perennials that I think the turtles will like much better. Of course I don't remember the names, but there are two different kinds with red flowers, some thyme, and a grassy plant that will provide cover for them to hide under. (G'Kwan particularly liked hiding under the lettuce, so this one should prove popular.)
My mother left for home today, but the sun is shining brightly in the sky and the air is cool and comfortable, so I went outside and trimmed some plants, pulled some weeds, and watered the turtle run. I feel like I've got the home place set for winter, which is kind of silly, since it's just a suburban yard in California, but it's *my* suburban yard in California.
