Yet another reason why I like living in California

Tonight I was making cranberry sauce from the organic cranberries I got in my CSA box, and when the cranberry skins were popping in the boiling water I remembered that I needed an orange, too. So I went out to the back yard and picked one.

Oranges! Onnatree! (I think you should grow a lemon tree also. Even more useful for the kitchen, also the gin & tonic...)

I think lemon trees are required by law. Every house I have ever lived in has had one.

And it tasted good? Fortunate you! I house-sat for co-workers several times while I lived out there, and all their orange trees were horribly bitter. The dogs liked chasing them, just like dogs chase snowballs here in the northern climes.

Now I have an orange tree and two key limes (from seed) in pots.

Last year's oranges are gone (I squeezed and froze a lot of them and ate or gave away the rest.) My new crop is not ready yet. Now even the frozen juice is all used up. I can hardly wait for this season's! Last year was the best ever for oranges in Concord.
