When I fed the boys yesterday afternoon, gooshy food even, they kind of picked at it and left it there and came back for me, kind of not interested. So I didn't feed them again until just now, which is more-or-less when I get up in the mornings usually. When I went into the back part of the house there was some truth to their assertions that they were starving, starving, I tell you. Also, Chaz very carefully told me how much, in grams, the boys should be fed. Faced with the hungry boys, I translated that to "a bowl full each" of crunchy food. They were gentleman about being fed, despite their urgency. We only spilled some of it, but I'm sure it will be taken care of.

Jet-lagged boys and their stomachs realising that it was for once *genuinely* breakfast-time hours and hours ago? :->

I'm glad they're eating and truly impressed with how well they're taking all of this. Stressed, relocated cats can stop eating for days. Mine did.

But given the boys' love of food, I should have expected them to dive right back in.

Do you suppose they could have a little jet lag?

Ah, I see someone else thought of that too. Oh well, I'm glad they are eating now.

Well, it would have been about midnight their time, and whilst they could no doubt get used to Midnight Feasts if pressed, they aren't yet.

The boys are lucky to have you at the end of their journey.

You ARE a good mommy! And they'll adjust to the time zone change, don't worry. But I wouldn't assume they're going to clean up kibbles dropped on the floor...my three never do.

In my experience, cats are in two groups on the issue of Fallen Kibble. Group A will police the area for stray bites as if a drill sergeant was making them clean up the parade ground, and then will sniff around in case they've missed something. Group B will sit there at mealtime saying "Nunh-unh! That stuff on the floor there? That's not food; that's dirt! We need food!"

Interestingly enough, they did get the kibbles on the floor, even though they didn't finish all the kibble in their dishes. I'm getting an idea of how much they can eat, so I don't inadvertently cause them weight gain.

I think the boys are still thinking they're in Neverland, and aren't really clear yet what's going on. Though Mac is starting to figure some things out. I should be afraid.

Teresa's Shadow, who lives with me now, deliberately takes food out of her bowl in the kitchen and dumps it on the carpet in the dining room.

She eats most of it, but still leaves a mess of half chewed kibble. I cannot seem to break her of it. I think I need to be more aggressive about it. I've been policing the area and dumping it back into her bowl and not giving her any more till that's eaten.

Yes, you should. I have a bruiser very much like Mac. To know Jemmy is to know what cats can do to get their way.
