New toy

No, I didn't buy an iPod. Yesterday I went with my mother to an antique show at the Santa Clara Convention Center, and as usually happens when I do that, she didn't buy anything and I bought furniture. But it's really cool. :-) I got a marble topped wash stand, with (surprise) a real marble top, and attached to the marble top is a backing with dark green tiles on it. There are two drawers in front, and it used to have wooden towel racks on the side, though they would be in the way if they were still there. I've set it up in my bedroom, and it looks great. Also, the dealer gave it to me for a third off, since he mostly deals in European furniture and this was American.

It sounds very much like the antique washstand which went to my sister-in-law when Steve's mom died. [I have no complaint about this at all; if the only daughter in the family wants an heirloom from her mother's side, then she should get it.]

About the only difference from your description is the backing tiles were a blue and white pattern of some kind [Delft?].
