Ten cool things that I've done that other people might not have done, or, in which the reader discovers just how dull I really am:

1. Had dinner with Josef Brodsky (who was the Poet Laureate of the United States, and won the Nobel Prize for literature). He really liked puns.

2. Regularly had brunch with Peter Viereck, a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet. He liked having brunch with me because a) he got a free brunch, and b) I had read Philip K. Dick's novels and could talk about them with him.

3. Spent a month in Rwanda.

4. Made a movie for television that had a cult following. (I made two movies, but only the second one had a cult following.)

5. Earned a black belt in aikido.

6. Sold a poem when I was fifteen. (I thought the poem was awful, but the publisher actually gave me money for it, so I can't complain.)

7. Went to Stonehenge for the summer solstice. I missed sunrise, but it was still cool.

8. Helped save the life of a man who had been hit by a train.

9. Went to the first science fiction convention in Bergen, Norway.

10. Wrote the artificial opponent for a computer game.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that you're not dull at all.

Not so boring at all. Remember that what's boring to you can seem rather exotic to others.

Hey, that's why I'm not posting a list of my own. I can't think of 10 things I've done that were at all unusual. The things I've done have also been done by many people that I know.

And even worse, the ones that come the closest to being interesting at all are things I happened to do only because I was "along for the ride" with someone else whose idea it was to do the thing.

"It Came From a Test Tube", shown only on television in south-eastern Idaho on community access. They'd play it about once a month or so, and people would call in to request they play it more often.

I'm considered exotic at work, especially after I mentioned that I owned a suit of armor, that fit me, that I actually used to fight in. (Or at least used to use.) I had a party last year to which several friends from work came as well as the usual suspects, and they wanted to see my armor. After I showed them, I asked everyone at the party who owned a suit of armor to raise their hand, and about a third of them did.

What's interesting and unusual can depend on the crowd. We just have lots of interesting and unusual friends to compare ourselves against.
