my good deed of the week

The other night my mother and I were talking of this and that, and she mentioned that she had lost track of her best friend from high school about ten years ago, so she asked me if I could use the Internet to find her. So I Googled her name, and after trying some combinations, with and without double quotes, I found someone with that name listed, with a phone number, on a senior women's tennis site in Austin (my mother is from Texas). So, I called the number, asked for her, and explained that my mother was looking for her best friend. And it was her. She thought that my mother was mad at her, while what happened was that my mother had sent her a letter and had it returned as undeliverable, so she thought she didn't have the right address. Mom and her friend have now connected, and are very happy. :-)

My son apparantly found out his father had died thru the net. I am still not sure. Could be his grandfather who had almost the same name.

Hooray for Mom and her friend! I hope they have a great time renewing their friendship. We need to not lose track of these important people in our lives.
