Something good for someone else

My friend in L.A. got a job, and starts on Monday! I'm thinking "I told you so" very loudly, though, because he hadn't heard back from the company for a long time, and I pointed out that that may be because he doesn't have an answering machine and he wasn't home a lot during that period. And that maybe he should call his friend who works there and ask her to check with HR on what's up. So finally, after stressing himself out completely, he checked with his friend this week, who talked to HR, who said they'd called him several times to tell him he had the job but no one answered. Sigh.

He's not good with modern machines, like computers. He's very smart, though, so he'll figure it all out eventually.

At the least, signing up for a few months of voice messaging seems imperative, if one can afford to do so at all.
