Felt more like a 6

The various earthquake sites tell me that was a magnitude 5.6 I felt a few minutes after eight o'clock. The whole house was shaking quite noticeably, and a couple of little things fell off the shelves. It went on for quite a few seconds, and grew in intensity, so I stood in the doorway away from things that could fall on me. From what I can figure out from the earthquake sites, the epicenter was within twenty miles south of me.

I couldn't get the kids on the phone until about 8:40 -- no circuits.

Date: 2007-11-02 04:26 am (UTC)I told them, "If you've been in California 3 days, you've been in an earthquake. Most are just too small to feel!"
And here you folks are, so well-versed in earthquakes that you're able to estimate magnitudes. You sound like a bunch of wine tasters! ;-)
I'm glad everyone's ok!
