He was just starting out when I was there. I had him for Calculus 3 and Calculus 5. He was an incredibly nice guy, but was one of the worst teachers I ever had, because he understood the math on such an intuitive level that he had a very hard time breaking it down into smaller pieces to teach it to us.
Mmm. That exactly reflects something he said in a conversation to Mark recently. I guess he got better about it with time.
(I never got past Calculus I, having had false starts with a couple of really bad teachers, leading to terminal confusion. Too bad, because I loved math up to that point. I really need to do some self-study so I don't end up embarrassing myself.)
