Escape to Alcatraz
Aug. 4th, 2008 08:55 pmYesterday I went up to San Francisco and met
eatenbyspiders at Fisherman's Wharf for dinner before we went to Alcatraz. We opted for Bubba Gump's because they have lots of shrimp, which we both like quite a bit. The meal was delicious, as was the company. We then went down to Pier 33 to catch the ferry over, which was also uneventful.
Alcatraz itself was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be, as well as being forbidding and claustrophobic. I can't imagine the guards actually living on that tiny island, much less having their families there as well. The cells were tiny and cold. The exercise yard was tiny and cramped. It creeped me out while being very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing
eatenbyspiders's pictures.
