When Dymphna first figured out how to get out of her habitat, she spent a lot of time exploring the house. Once G'Kwan decided to come out, too, they both pretty much just stayed in my study, usually under my desk. (How can I tell? They leave little tiny presents.) The past couple of days, though, Dymphna has been hanging out in the living room, at the other end of the house from my study. In fact I just saw her in there. (I'm working from home today.) I like it that she goes exploring, though I hope it's not because she doesn't like the food or something.

Maybe she just felt like a change of scenery? A change in the weather?

Learning what motivates her must be excellent training for learning to read an alien?

I know that one of the things that motivates her is getting away from G'Kwan, who picks on her. I was more surprised when she hung out in the study, because he's always in there.

It's too bad he's a meany.

Who knew turtles had dominance issues. Not me. Especially as they're not 'herd' or 'pack' animals, or flock animals, or even raise their children.

It's a mating behavior. Ideally I'd have two males, who would fight with each other.

Do mean 'ideally for Dymphna?'

Or are you just a meany yourself?

(I know you're not.)

Ideally for turtle happiness in general. If I had more room and a real place for the turtles to hang out I'd keep four, two female and two male.

You know, "Turtle Happiness," seems as if it could be a good title for something.

Perhaps Dymphna is just checking out the decor in other rooms so she can make suggestions for the study.

cool!

I had no idea you could let turtles roam around your house!
