My steampunk outfit
I need a costume for the steampunk convention, and I didn't want to do straight Victorian ladies clothing, so I opted for the Old West look:

I didn't order the guns or pants, but the hat, shirt (in ivory) and vest arrived today. I'm pleased and surprised to find that they actually fit very well, which doesn't always happen when I order clothes. And I look really cool in the hat. :-)
This outfit sparked my imagination, and I now have a steampunk character (Honesty) who lives in the Old West, and am going to be doing a NaNoWriMo story just to see how it goes. I think the West gets ignored too much in sff literature.

Anyway...steampunk convention? Would you mind sharing where? Not for myself, but for two friends working on a steampunk novel. They might already be aware of it, but just in case...
The west, yes! WHen I first started digging into what steampunk was, and saw Wild Wild West on the list (oh Thaddeus! I crush you still!) I nodded my head happily in realization.

I didn't get steampunk until I remembered The Wild, Wild West. That makes it for me.

As far as Steampunk in the Wild West, if you want I would be happy to loan you the Deadlands game books, or Dead Man (the weird ass Jim Jarmusch film). I had a dream earlier this month about a Romany and his Chinese adversary which wants to become a story that I think probably takes place in San Francisco during the steamy wildness.

I'd love to see Dead Man. It sounds like a lot of fun.
