When I arrived at aikido last night, I felt great. When I left, my back hurt, my knees hurt, and I was wheezing. I guess that means I got a good workout, and I certainly got a good night's sleep, since I collapsed into bed around 10:30 and just got up a few minutes ago. My sensei used me as uke (the person who attacks, and subsequently has the technique performed on them) several times, which is flattering. Unfortunately, the edge of the dojo got flooded during one of the heavy storms a while back, and while the owner is trying to dry off the mats, I think there's some sort of mold or mildew in the air. There's something that's making it much harder too breathe in there the last couple of weeks.

At least it's not cat pee.

So is it different being a black belt now that you've been one for a while?

My hakima stays on now. I still need to remind myself that I'm one of the senior students now and should be more of a leader. It's still not old hat yet, but I don't feel quite so funny about it anymore.
