Another step in the right direction

Last night a friend who works for Apple came over and installed my new DVD drive and my new internal hard disk, and installed OS X for me. Now I can make my own DVDs! And I have the new iMovie, new iTunes (I can now download songs from iMusic for 99 cents), and GarageBand. Next stop: "It Came From a Test Tube" on DVD!

So did you get iDVD to work (not supposed to happen with a third-party drive), or are you using something else?

The new drive is supposed to have the right stuff to work with iDVD, or at least so says 'Sandro. I'm going to play with it this weekend and find out for sure.

Ah--he got you one of the drives Apple ships with new Macs? I didn't think they sold those separately; but maybe for employees.

No, I bought it from a third party, who I think makes the drives for the Mac.
