Beautiful day

This morning I put on a short-sleeved Polo shirt and walked down to the farmer's market, where I picked up fennel, Pink Lady apples (one of my favorite kinds), green grapes, sossidges, and bread. This will go with my carrots, onions, beets, sweet potatoes, and assorted greens. The day is gorgeous and sunny, with the sun warm and the breeze cool. My back yard is glorious. Right now I've got the hose running to water Chaz's lemon tree, and I'll go out occasionally to make sure the rose bushes and the turtle run plants get their share, too. I bought a strawberry plant last Saturday and never got around to planting it, so it's been sitting on my kitchen table, unwatered, all week. It hasn't wilted at all and instead decided to put out a flower. (I'll plant it today.) I love living here.

You've got that right! You should hear the birds in my neighborhood trees. Such cacophony! Makes you know it's spring, even when they are forecasting rain for next week.

No kidding! I've accomplished a lot, but unfortunately it's not the sort of thing people will notice. But I know, at least. The soil in the driest rosebed is NOW properly re-dug with good soil blended in with the old stuff, and the rock garden base is actually finished after all these years. Hopefully, both will look really good this summer.

Hee. It was Sophie-cat who really did pack herself, when I was going away. I had this big pink duffel bag I used for a long time, and I always had to feel right down to the bottom, for the little warm furry package I hadn't put in there...

strawberries don't actually like a lot of water. And over watered strawberry plants make tasteless, fiberous berries.

So you probably did okay. :-)
