Even more things for the list

I was deadheading some roses a little while ago, and my neighbors invited me over for a barbecue. One of their stepmothers is planning a wedding for her daughter, so we had a great discussion of weddings and wedding planning. She recommended Freedom Hall in Santa Clara for the reception, but also suggested the Del Monte building in Sunnyvale. She also mentioned things like engagement announcements, and it occurred to me that I should probably look into that. Hmmm....

[livejournal.com profile] cassiealexander had a kick-ass retro-SF wedding theme that was awesome.

We got married at the Pulgas Water Temple (http://sfwater.org/index.aspx?page=93) but it's closed for the rest of this year.

Oh, that's a nice place. We're not getting married until sometime next summer, though, so it could be a possibility.

Are you guys going to do a steampunk wedding?

We haven't thought that far.

I love talking wedding planning and etiquette! Feel free to pick my brainz! I'm happy to help with the DIY parts of it, too. I love addressing envelopes. :)

Engagement announcements as a formal thing? I've never heard of that. I think you could safely save your money on that.

I still have they wedding spreadsheet that Marguerite shared with me, if you'd like to have a place to start. I do love a good spreadsheet.

I'd love to see your spreadsheet.

You may want to send out "Save the Date" postcards instead of a formal engagement announcement. Once you have a date to save, that is.

There is that beautiful Victorian house in Shoreline Park. They rent that out for parties and receptions, and I remember it being pricey for a party, but pretty reasonable for a wedding reception. They have a kitchen, and space for dancing.

I also agree with helblonde about spreadsheets. Channel your inner HRJ!

Will you have a UK leg, too?
Ah, just found your previous post.

Definitely. But you'll be at both of them, won't you?

I certainly hope so.

what, mentioning it on LJ doesn't count as an engagement announcement? who makes these rules, anyway ;-) ?
