What is fudz in French?
I have had Quiche Lorraine, and lasagna, and le cassoulet. I have had an eclair, many croissants, several tarts, and much French chocolate. But the best meal so far in Paris? Chaz roasted a poulet noir for dinner, with roasted vegetables in the juices, including roasted garlic. Fabulous. You should all be here. And we have more for tomorrow.

"nourriture" isn't actually groceries, but food in general. "aliments" or "alimentations" are also used. "groceries" is a bit hard to translate. grocery store is "épicerie" and btw if you have not yet been to La Grande Épicerie you *must*, it is fabulous! the things you buy in a grocery store can also be called "épicerie" but "nourriture" or "provisions" is i think more common. erm, this is one of those things i'd better confirm before i start teaching french in january. ;-)
anyway, la grande epicerie is a ridiculously fabulous grocery store adjacent to le bon marché which is a ridiculously fabulous department store. in the 6th(?) arrondissement. take the metro to sèvres-babylone.
my other favorite foodie stop is in the 14th, rue daguerre (metro: denfert-rochereau). a tiny street tucked away near montparnasse, and lined with food shops! there is one that specializes in pâtés and terrines and other such delicacies, all in jars and cans so you can easily bring them home. including foie gras, which you will want to hoard before it becomes illegal here! (silly, silly law.) in the same neighborhood on rue vercingétorix you will find a bakery called le moulin de la vierge, which has *the* *best* croissants. and if you are nowhere near the 14th they have three other locations: http://www.lemoulindelavierge.com/
bouffez bien, mes chers! :-)
