For the last month or so my left knee, the one I had surgery on for a torn miniscus a couple of years ago, has been killing me. It's been sore and swollen and has made things like standing up or climbing stairs difficult. This week one of Chaz's friends from England was in town for work and last night we went out to dinner. When we got back to my place, as he was getting in his car and I was unlocking my front door, I turned around to tell him the best route to get back to his hotel. And my knee twisted, then my ankle on my other leg twisted trying to recover, and I fell over yelling things like "Ouch!" (The fall itself was fine, since I've practiced falling in aikido for years.)

Aside from embarrassing myself (even more so given that we'll be spending Christmas Day with this man and his wife), I'm not only not hurt (except for a slightly sore ankle), my left knee is all better! Yay! I can stand up like a normal person. This is great.

That was completely not where I thought this post was going. I am so glad you had such a successful fall! (And really grateful that my meniscus damage is so very minor as to not require surgery.)

Popped it back into shape? That's excellent!

Do you think you twisted it back into it's proper alignment?

Maybe I need to do that. My post-surgery knee is just not right anymore and it seems to come out of the socket very frequently.

I'm glad you survived so well. When is Chaz going to arrive?

He's not moving out until early March-ish. I'm going there for Christmas.

That explains your comment about Christmas! Well, no doubt you will have a wonderful time over there. Will you be escorting a kitty to it's new home on your return?

She's not planning to - but actually, we think this is an excellent plan. *slips Mac furtively into Karen's case when she's not looking*

Be careful. That means Mac would be coming with us to Cornwall.

Well, if you can have "purse dogs," why not "purse cats?"
Seems like a good idea to me.

Well, some of us visit chiropractors and some of use make use of front steps. Regardless, I'm very glad it's all better!

"This is great."

Yes, it is!

It's also ... weird.

:)

How the heck did you manage to fall and fix yourself? I'm envious.

Excellent news indeed. You could not and would not dare do it deliberately.

Good heavens! I was cringing in anticipation of something awful right up to the end of your posting. Delighted that said cringing is unnecessary! Woot!

A fortunate fall, in fact (which is also the title of a strange but rather good sf novel...)
