The boys went to the vet today, in their new green travel boxes. I'm not quite sure they *appreciated* their new green travel boxes, given Barry's piteous wails, but the nice boxes got them there and home again. The boys are fine, if a little overweight. We have drops to kill fleas and worms for when they go outside, and an address to register them with the county, and a place to register their chips. They fussed only a little at having their temperatures taken (I don't blame them), and Baz put the contents of his stomach on the floor of the travel box as we stepped inside home (though he missed the little rug *and* his collar, that he'd managed to remove. What a good boy.), but all in all didn't seem too traumatized.

They have very short short-term memories.

I wish that were true with our boy.

Yeah, and don't forget, they'll do *anything* to make you feel guilty, even barf.

But hey! New green boxes! Tell them they're camouflaged as tortoises! Tortoises are cool!

At last, you have found a box that Barry does not appreciate - why am I not surprised that this should be the box that belongs to him?

Our experience has been that it takes two people and a bath towel to get an adult cat into one of those horrible, evil boxes: wrap cat firmly in the cocoon of the towel so that legs and paws cannot brace the cat in the doorways of the box, exposed human flesh is protected from cat claws, and the surface of the towel is better for a secure hold than a sleek, lithe cat body.

Returning home is always much easier. Our cats have learned that the trip at the "other end" always results in being home again. and they are much more cooperative going into the boxes at that point.

I discovered with a friend's cat that a liberal application of catnip made the box, and travel in said container, far more acceptable. And much quieter.
