My legs...suck right now. It's not the legs themselves, which are perfectly fine legs, it's the nerves connecting to them. They just want to fire all the time, so when I walk, my legs knot up. It hurts (but not much), and makes walking very hard, because I'm literally fighting myself with every step (unless I'm smart enough to practice relaxing with every step, but that's hard, too, despite all those years of aikido). Yoga helps a lot, but I need to do it more than I'm doing it now. (I've started my own mini-yoga stretches at night.) The medicine helps, but I really need my next infusion of steroids, which won't come until (early, damnit) November. And I'm really looking forward to the new Biogen MS drug that's coming out by the end of this year.

In the meantime, I've started doing what Dr. Terry Wahls did to mitigate her symptoms of MS: radically changing my diet. Right now what I'm working on is eating three cups of greens a day, three cups of brightly colored food (fruits, mostly), three cups of sulfur-rich foods (mostly in the cabbage family), plus eating (ugh) fish, organ meats, and seaweed once a week. Plus, for meat, using grass-fed animals. So far, it's a lot of chewing. It may help, but at worst I may lose some weight.

Fortunately you have a chef who will work wonders with the fish and (if these are what I think they are) organ meats. But I'm sorry that you've been forced into this dietary adventure by unpleasant symptoms. I hope it's effective!

We could meet at the Plant Cafe for lunch sometimes. Lots of veggies, pretty tasty

That's a good idea. It might be too far for me to walk right now, though, but I could try it.

Rodney Yee has a very nice DVD "Yoga For Every Day of the Week" (or something like that) - 5 20-minute workouts, each focusing on a different part of the body. Works well for getting in a short but balanced yoga workout, even on busy days.

Thanks for the rec. I just bought his "Yoga for Beginners" DVD.

Even if all that happens is you lose some weight, that alone will help the legs, but I think eating plan will also help the NS.

No, I didn't. I was a little too stunned to do much. Would you please send me her info again? Thanks.

Understandably stunned. I'm sending you her email address by email.

I really should try a similar diet that lots of people suggest for cancer patients as well. I am just so resistant to the greens. I hope it helps your legs because that is just dismaying.

I hate greens, too, but I hate not walking even more. Even though I haven't managed to eat all of everything every day, I'm using my Weight Watchers food planning tricks and getting a lot of it, and I do feel better. Even if it's the placebo effect, at least something has started working. I hope your diet when you start it works for you.
