It's that time of year. Nope, not going back to school, or the start of the television season. It's time for Milford, the professional writers conference held every year in Wales, and my friends are preparing for their trip there. I, alas, won't be going. I've gone twice, though, and met my husband through a friend I made there. I've sold a story (Tales From the House Band, Volume 2
) that I had critiqued there. I've made friends, seen Snowden despite the mist, and have adored the whole experience (both times!). This year I won't be going, but I might see some of the writers from my year at World Fantasy Con in Brighton. It will be my first time back in England in almost two years.
In the meantime, I have a deluge of new books to entertain me, even as I scramble to get a story finished for an upcoming anthology. Seanan McGuire's new October Daye: Chimes at Midnight: An October Daye Novel
; a new Laurie King that isn't about Holmes and Russell: The Bones of Paris: A Novel of Suspense
; a new Kinsey Milhone mystery: W is for Wasted (Kinsey Millhone Mystery)
. My next couple of weeks should be entertaining, even without Wales.
