I've mentioned before how Mac has adopted me as his.







Now that the weather is cooling, Barry has stopped spending as much time in Chaz's office and has started sleeping with us in our bedroom. Almost always he sleeps next to Chaz, often on the side of the bed. Occasionally he'll sleep on my pillow (graciously granting me a corner for my head), I presume since the lamp on the bedside table warms it. Last night Barry started the night on my pillow, but around 4:00 a.m. when I needed to get up, when I came back he'd stretched over the entire pillow. As I gently nudged him to give me room, he got off the pillow and curled up with me right below the pillow. I slept for several hours with Barry in my arms against my chest. How lovely, especially since his fur is very soft because he cleans himself so much. (Only a cad would use the word "compulsively.") Today Barry is napping on our bed where he slept next to me last night.

I feel honored. I'm not sure Mac or Chaz is pleased, though.

So cute! Depending on where I sit or sleep I have different cats with me. Lily and Aeowyn are with me if I sleep in the bed. Arwen if I sleep in the recliner (when my hip hurts) and Raeyn if I'm upstairs on the computer working. It's like they all have their "assignments." LOL

Yup. Mac and Barry have their preferred places. Mac has claimed my computer desk, and is horrified that Barry has claimed my work laptop. Not the space on the desk (there isn't any), but the laptop itself. I've learned that I have to leave the laptop screen locked if I leave the room, or Barry will modify my documents.

My current cat seems to avoid me on the bed, presumably because I move around too much for her taste. I generally encounter her curled up to one side of my knees or feet, which usually means I need to half-wake up to turn over without disturbing her.

Previous cats used to start out the night stretched out on top of me, or snuggled into the small of my back as I lay on my side. Almost as good as an extra blanket.

CATS!!!! How would we ever live without them.

Neri doesn't sleep with me because I fuss too much, but when I'm lying on the bed reading, she sleeps on my knee or ankle, one paw stretched across. As if to say, 'This is mine.'

Mac doesn't like sleeping on laps, but he likes sleeping next to me on my desk, with one paw touching me. Because, yes, to say "This is mine" (and possibly to make sure I don't go anywhere).

Nimrod always used to claim my whole pillow, but Willow is more kind to me. She seems content to take the spot next to my knees if I'm sleeping. If I'm reading, she likes to spread out on my chest, and enjoy my breathing.

Funny, aren't they? Each with their own special places!

I put a little cat bed next to the big old surge protector. She likes that when I'm working in my office. It's warm there, and I don't disturb her by making my fingers go up and down as I do when she prefers to sit on the keyboard!

I love how the cats have adopted you and your home as "theirs".

Makes for quite the family, eh?

We've adopted my niece's great dane puppy (life changes meant not being able to have a dog for awhile). That has created pleasant chaos in the household.
