Tidying up for the new year

I've just wandered through my friend's list here, removing names from the list here and there -- some accounts closed, some names I hadn't heard of in so long I've forgotten who they are -- so if I removed you and you're feeling hurt, let me know that you're still out there and I'll happily add you back. One group of friends I made sure not to remove are the ones who are no longer with us, and that list was too long for me. The person who is the reason I joined LJ initially left us far too soon and too long ago, and I've had too many others join her. So, please, if you're still around, let me know!

I have not been able to bring myself to take wilfulcait's lj off my list. For some reason it feels to me like saying that she is not my friend, which she is: she is my late friend. But always, always my friend.

This is idiosyncratic of me, I admit.
