Shrek 2 comments
Jun. 21st, 2004 07:09 pmI went to see Shrek 2 last night, desperate for something light and funny, and laughed out loud for the first time in what seems like forever. Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots was perfect. I now want a Puss in Boots stuffed animal. The ending, however...
I was disappointed that Fiona chose to have her and Shrek changed back to ogres. While I realize that this was to give the message that you should love people for who they are and not what they look like, I felt that it cheapened Shrek's gift of being willing to change his looks to make their marriage successful. If she loves him no matter what he looks like, then having him look human shouldn't matter, either. Shrek's basic personality hadn't changed, they made that clear, just what he looked like. While I realize going to the effort of making the change in the first place was a big gift, still, I didn't like the ending. I suspect I may be the only person who sees it to feel that way, though.
