Rainy days and Mondays

It's raining today, which means the traffic home will be miserable. My cold is still lingering just a little bit in my chest, which will be a problem at aikido practice. I can't skip aikido because my test is just eight days away. I'm starting to have the "why am I bothering?" thought process, which is trying to tell me that life would just be easier if I crawled into a hole and never came out. Let's hope the sun shines tomorrow.

Thanks. As I was driving home that night through the miserable traffic, eating worms, I thought, if I ask for a sign from God he'll probably just drop a rock on me. At that moment, "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack starting playing on the radio. I love this song. The chorus goes

"I hope you'll still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.
When one door closes I hope one more opens.
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance,
I hope you dance."

I took that as a sign from God, and cheered up immeasurably.

How was the L.A. trip?

The L.A. trip was fun. I got to hang out with friends, including the cute new one. I'm going down there again for a big New Year's Eve party to hang out with the same bunch. Should be a blast.
