A green night
Nov. 11th, 2004 11:08 pmTonight a friend came over and we worked on scribal things. I set out to make the base coat of paint for the grass in the miniatures on my scroll, which was a kind of yellowish-green in the painting I'm basing it on. The only green I had was viridian, which is a deep green, and I mixed it with the Naples yellow I used to lighten the brown for the trees. I was very surprised to find that it matched the painting almost exactly, which does make sense when you realize that I'm using period pigments to make the paint, and gosh, so did they.
Later, I got a phone call from my best friend from high school, whom I haven't seen in twenty years. She's in town visiting another friend, and we're going to get together for breakfast on Saturday. This will be odd, since when we were in high school she was overweight and I was very thin, and now I'm overweight. I don't think she'll care, but I really don't look like I did. In fact, when I showed "Test Tube" to some friends last weekend, a lot of them didn't notice that I was in it.
