It's 7:30 a.m. on a black and rainy morning, and I'm at work. I had a customer phone call at 7:00, that would have involved a lot of web work and needing to get things off local machines and so on, so I got up early and drove through the rain and the dark so I could take advantage of the network speed at work. And we needed to postpone the meeting (through no fault of the customer). Sigh.

Last night, though, my boss took me and one of the other members of my group out to dinner. Bill, the other member of the group, lives in Chicago and only comes out here rarely, so last night at the end of the work day I asked him if he wanted to go out to dinner with me, but he had already been invited out by Nello, so he invited me along. (I hate inviting myself along when I wasn't originally invited, but it seemed OK with them.) We went to a Cuban restaurant, which was very good. I've been to two different Cuban restaurants before, which were terrible, so I had started to think it was Cuban food that was terrible, but no. This was yummy.

We have people at my place of work who -- by chance -- just yesterday complained about not being able to find a decent Cuban restaurant.

Where'd you go?

My spelling is likely off, but it was called La Bodeguita del Medio or something like that (the name means "The little bar in the middle of the block"). It's on California in Palo Alto. It's a tad pricey, but I wasn't paying last night.

I went to a very nice Cuban place in Philadelphia, but alas, have been to many unfine Cuban places in Cuba itself - I don't think this is due to food shortages, so much as genuinely limited cuisine.

Got food poisoning as well. You haven't lived until you've thrown up in the street in front of half of Havana... :-(

You know they just shrugged and said "Turista".

I got chicken pox in England, though. That was its own kind of fun.

Oh lovely! :-(

I also had chicken pox in England, though that's probably to be expected.
