I needed a bookshelf of a particular size and shape, and a new couch, and a friend from work said she knew a place where I could get just what I wanted. So I went with her to a discount furniture store, and sure enough, they had just what I needed. So I got them. *sigh* They were both a very good price, but I didn't want to buy a new couch before my trip to England. On the other hand, I really need a new couch. They'll be delivered in a couple of weeks. After that, we went to the mall, and I peeked into The Walking Company, and they had, again, just what I was looking for in shoes, so I got some new Eccos. I'm really pleased with my purchases, but I just wish they hadn't cost money. :-)

On the up-side, you are at least *making* money.

That's true, and the only reason I would consider doing anything like buying a couch or travelling out of the country. Let's just hope I continue to make money.

Are you still in the midst of your Gaston Phoebus project?

I was at an SCA friend's house last night for a housewarming, and she had a couple of books about that specific artist out on her coffee tables (yes, she does calligraphy and illumination).

Still not done with Gaston Phoebus. Did she have the facsimile of the Hunting Book? That's what I'm basing my work on.

I wrote down one of the titles:

Illuminated Manuscripts: Medieval Hunting Scenes ("The Hunting Book" by Gaston Phoebus) Text by Gabriel Bise. Translated by J. Peter [drat I can't read my own writing] Tallo/Tallor/Tallon (?). Printed in Spain.

Congratulations on finding those shoes and the furniture.

Yes, finding these things doesn't always coordinate with our budgetary plans. Darnitall.

I'm going to England next month for about ten days. It should be fun.
