About 4:00 this afternoon, I started feeling a little dizzy. This isn't that strange for me, except that usually it last a couple of minutes at most, then goes away. Also, it happens after I've done strenuous exercise, not sitting at my desk for hours. This time, I stayed dizzy. And got dizzier. Walking was exciting. I felt like my feet stayed in place, but my head was heavy and wanted to pull me around at odd angles. Sitting didn't help; lying down (on the couch in the foosball room) didn't help. After a couple of hours of this, I called the advice nurse for Blue Cross, who sent me to the emergency room (via co-worker -- no way could I even drive). At the hospital, it got worse, so that I needed to hang on to things to walk steadily. They stuck me in a room, took blood samples, blood pressure (which was high for me), and so on. Eventually, after lying very still for about an hour, most of the dizziness went away. All of my lab work was fine, everything else was fine. They figure it's because of allergies and because I was a little bit dehydrated. [livejournal.com profile] maestrateresa, in a rare role-reversal, came and got me at the hospital and took me back to my car, and now I'm at home, soon to be abed. With one unused and unusable theater ticket for a show that started three hours ago.
