klwilliamsThanksgiving was fun. Mom fixed our traditional cornbread stuffing, my brother fixed our traditional homemade cranberry sauce, and I fixed our traditional pecan pie. I also experienced the Santa Ana winds for the first time. They're very fast, very strong, and very dry. When I got home yesterday, I was so dried out I got a nosebleed, and it occurred to me that if I were that dried out, the turtles must be miserable, so today was bath day.
Dymphna hadn't eaten all week, because I've been trying to get them to eat healthy lettuce instead of good tasting lettuce. I filled their plastic tub with warm water and took turns putting them in there to soak, and while they were soaking I mixed some yummy lettuce in with the healthy lettuce, and turned on the secondary heat lamp. Once Dymphna was nice and warm, she actually ate something, though she tried to ignore the healthy stuff. I'm not sure if G'Kwan ate anything. He hardly ever eats. He did try to have sex with Dymphna while she was eating, but that's typical for him.
Current book: VALENTINE PONTIFEX, by Robert Silverberg. This seems to be a very timely book, since it's about the metamorphs on Majipoor conducting a terrorist campaign to kill off the alien species who have taken over the planet.

Date: 2003-12-01 02:02 pm (UTC)The good-tasting lettuce is butter lettuce, which is up on the healthy scale from iceberg but not as good as the "spring mix" package. My turtles are worse than five-year-olds when it comes to eating well, so I'm trying to force them to eat better. Sticking them in warm water can make them hungry, so bath time served a dual purpose.
