The interview game from [livejournal.com profile] greatsword:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."

2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your livejournal/website with the answers to the questions and leave the
answers as comments here (or at least provide a pointer to your site).

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the
same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

If finances weren't an issue, what would you do for a profession?

It's not finances that tend to effect my job searching, since I tend to like to do jobs that pay well. What tends to be a limiting factor is fear of actually succeeding at something I've always wanted to do, and of course the problem of getting that initial job in the field. But, what I'd like to do if didn't have to wade through the cesspool that is Hollywood to get there, is produce movies.

Do you plan to return to SCA fighting? If not, how did you come to that decision?

Not in any serious way, though if I succeed in losing some weight I'd like to see how my aikido translates to fighting now that I'm a black belt. While women fighters are generally (though not completely) accepted in the SCA, women fighters don't fit the Arthurian archetype, and even though I have a great guy to fight for, I'm tired of fighting the archetype.

If you could recommend one place to travel to, what would it be?

Hmm. Travel recommendations tend to be for specific people for specific reasons, but in general I recommend going someplace completely new, to open up your mind to what your assumptions are about the world. For that purpose, I recommend travelling in East Africa. I found Rwanda wonderful, though I was there before the population decided that genocide was the answer to their problems. Kenya would be a good choice, if you can get out of Nairobi and actually see some of the country.

What have you read lately that you would recommend highly?

If by "lately" you mean in the last year or so, I'd strongly recommend All the Fishes Come Home to Roost, which can be pre-ordered on Amazon right now. Also, Mary Stewart's Merlin books are back in print (The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment), and are simply wonderful.

If you had a year's paid sabbatical to study one thing, what would it be?

Movie making.

Sure, you can answer here only.

1. What are you proudest of having written?

2. What is your dream project that you haven't written yet?

3. Who, beyond your immediate family, do you admire the most, and why?

4. If you could live anywhere, where would you live?

5. If you have/get an iPod, what are/will be the first five songs you put on it?

Interview me. I trust you. (Some say I'm also a trusting fool, but what do they know?)

These shouldn't be too bad.

1. If you had a week just for yourself, and money were no object, what would you do?

2. Which is more important, chivalry or courtesy? Explain.

3. What's the most exotic pet you've ever lived with?

4. What's your guiltiest pleasure?

5. Why do you have the job you have, and what would you do instead if you had the choice?

We need to know more about each other currently, anyway.

1. Where would you like to travel to that you've never been?

I've always wanted to go to India, at least since my teens. I always have thought it to be full of very spiritual people, very calming. That's probably not necessarily so true.

2. What is the most interesting book you've read in the last year?

The last book I read was "The Tao of Pooh." I have too short an attention span to read lately. :( It also affects my writing. I tend to write in the style of the books that I've been reading, and I don't want to do that. The books that I return to over and over again are J.D. Salinger's.

3. If you could have dinner with one dead person (temporarily alive and not smelly), who would it be and what would you talk about?

Hey. I thought this was supposed to be two questions. :)

I'd like to talk with Jesus and get the scoop on how different his opinions are/were from those of the bigwigs of the current popular sects of Christianity.

4. What is your biggest accomplishment?

Sadly, it was to almost earn a BA in English (composition) and one in philosophy. Another semester or so would do it, but then I would have to reclaim the school loan debt that I had written off due to my mental inconsistencies.

5. What would you like to be your biggest accomplishment?

I'd like to have a collection of my poems published by someone other than myself or an e-book publisher.
