I spent the day reading, napping, and getting caught up on TiVo, so I finally got to see the last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, which is also the last episode of any Star Trek, for at least the foreseeable future.

They did an interesting trick for this last episode. They showed the last voyage of Enterprise as it's making its way to the ceremony to sign the charter of what will eventually become the Federation, only they showed as a holodeck recreation done by Riker and Troi as Riker tries to figure out what to tell Picard about the Pegasus from ST:TNG. We got to see a five-year fast forward of the ST:E crew as their ship is about to be decommissioned, while getting a quick look at the Enterprise-E again. The only downside is that we didn't get to see as much of the Enterprise crew, and there wasn't quite enough character interaction, as I would have liked for a final episode. Plus, they killed Trip!!!!! He was my favorite character, and they killed him off!!!! For no apparent reason. I'm really pissed, especially since that was handled rather lightly.

The very ending was nice, though (except we didn't get to hear Archer's speech). They cut to the Enterprise-E, and Picard doing the "These are the vooyages..." speech, then they dissolved to Kirk's Enterprise, with Kirk picking up at "...to seek out new life...", and finally dissolving to Archer's Enterprise, where he finished with "...to boldly go...". There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

If anybody missed it and didn't get it recorded, it's airing again this coming Friday (May 27).
