Advent of chaos
Dec. 10th, 2003 10:43 amMy priest pointed out this week that the Advent season (Dec. 1 - Dec. 24) is usually a time of chaos. Anything can happen, particularly bad things, and they usually do. So far this season, two of my friends (one at aikido, one at church) have prostate cancer, and one of my good friends had a heart attack yesterday. (She's OK and in the hospital for observation, but this isn't a good sign given how sick she usually is.) Friends of my friends have died (or in one case, was murdered). For the rest of the week my turtles and I have been displaced from my house so it can be tented for termites, and I'm hoping nothing gets broken, nothing gets stolen, and the house doesn't explode. On the plus side, my friend who usually has horrible things go wrong with her had a biopsy last week and the doctors didn't find anything wrong. (Yeah!) Let's hope the rest of the season is fun and happy, and not deadly and miserable.
As an addendum...
