Date: 2006-10-15 01:01 pm (UTC)It says there is only one person with his name. We know there are at least two; the other one is an MD who lives in the western end of our state, and we have received other people's medical bills where (according to our medical insurance carrier) some careless medical transcriptionist has confounded the patient's name and the doctor's name.

Date: 2006-10-15 08:46 pm (UTC)They state there this is not from a database of actual names. It's based on the US Census figures on the popularity/frequency of names. That means the result you get isn't showing how many people actually have this name, but what the odds are that anyone will have this combination of first and last name based on the Census figures for common and uncommon first and last names.
Thus, I'd venture to say their use of the phrase "How many have your name?" is quite misleading.

You can look up how many people with Social Security numbers (which is just about everybody for many decades now) who have passed away HAD your name, first and / or last. It lists everyone who has died.
If you have long-lost friends or relatives, sometimes you can find them, there, too, sadly.
