The way of things here
Apr. 6th, 2014 02:40 pmMy boss took me and a co-worker out to lunch for my birthday. I noticed during the meal that he wasn't looking at me. I wondered why, and found out on Friday, when I got laid off. I wonder if he'd intended to lay me off earlier, but didn't because of my birthday. Anyway. I got a reasonable (for Silicon Valley) layoff package, and I immediately signed up for unemployment. I've started contacting people that can help with my job hunt. It helps (or maybe hurts) that I'm an expert in electronic discovery search and review. We'll see.

It's a damned shame.

Date: 2014-04-07 09:15 am (UTC)As you say, the way of things. Not a good way, but the one we have. I was surprised you didn't have a term of notice, but hope the layoff package goes some way to make up for that.
Meanwhile, make the most of not doing the commute and not getting up so early (cats permitting)!
