Hometown haiku
Mar. 4th, 2004 03:45 pmA few months ago, a bunch of people I know were writing hometown haiku, and this is the one I wrote. Feel free to contribute your own hometown haiku.
Idaho
Mountains, forests, snow--
admire the stunning vistas.
Ignore the people.

Date: 2004-03-04 06:54 pm (UTC)Little hill wrapped in fog
Rushing wind in the tall Eucs
A friend is laughing.
From the cool hilltop
All the world glitters below
Moonlight on the bay.
At the hill's elbow
Soft light glows from a window
Father is reading.
The wind does not sigh
Fog is not damp from weeping
The trees never mourn.

Date: 2004-03-05 10:17 am (UTC)Mountain View has always had an inferiority complex re Palo Alto; the relationship is much like San Francisco and L.A. San Francisco tries so hard to prove itself superior, while L.A. goes "Huh?"
...which is also like the relationship between L.A. and New York City.
